The worst part about the desktop version of spotify is when you download/add music to your library on your phone it doesnt sync up properly with the desktop version. I have added about 20ish songs to my phone library and its been been a couple days, still no sync. Spotify picks the cover art for your playlists, but you can choose your own with the desktop app. Open a playlist and when you mouse over the artwork, you'll see a pencil icon appear.
